The class will follow a clip system for both rewards and consequences. The students will begin each day on Surf's Up! Ready to Learn and can move up or down the clip chart for positive and negative behavior, respectively.
If a child makes it all the way to Cowabunga! Outstanding Behavior, they will get their choice of 2 prize options:
1. Treasure - Pick something from the prize bin
2. Pull a ticket - Children may put their name on a ticket
and drop it in a pile for a chance to win a special prize
at the end of the month! Three names will be drawn at
the end of each month for bigger prizes.
If a child does not make good choices, he or she will move their clip down the chart. If they move to either Wipe Out! Think About It or Beached! Parent Contact (after a warning has been given first) they will "sign up" for violation of class rules and fill out a behavior sheet. In the event of severe behavior, or if a child repeatedly moves to orange or red, a note will be sent home to be signed and returned to the teacher. Some occurrences may result in loss of recess time.
At the end of each day, the students will mark their color on their daily correspondence sheet in the B.E.A.C.H. Binder for parents to see how well they've done!
